Summer Camp Registration Now Open at Veterans Park Recreation Center | News, Sports, Jobs

Veterans Park Recreation Center‘s 2022 registration for Lee County Parks and Recreation Summer Camp is ongoing and spaces are open, but are expected to fill quickly as the end of the school year approaches.

According to recreation center staff, those wishing to register can go online or show up in person depending on whether they already have a family membership.

This year’s summer camp runs for 7 weeks, June 13 to July 29, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday. The cost per week is $75 per participant.

“Children can either register for the whole camp or register from week to week. Participants who register each week may not get a spot if that week fills up before they register,” staff explained.

The summer camp has two groups:

• Traditional Camp is for campers who have completed Kindergarten and Grade 6 and are 6 years old by September 1st.

• Middle School Camp, for campers in grades six through eight. Recreation center membership required.

Recreation staff encourage current members to update their membership in person.

Parents are encouraged to register early – each year, allocated spots at every Lee County Recreation Center fill up quickly. Registration for the camp is in progress as long as there is space.

All campers will receive a specially designed Lee County Parks and Recreation t-shirt. Campgrounds will participate in county-wide initiatives such as service-learning projects, fitness and wellness programs and National Parks and Recreation Month.

Veterans Park is hosting the Ultimate Egg Hunt on April 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s $5 per child, ages 1-12. The event will include an egg hunt, inflatable obstacle course, music, food trucks and a photo booth.

The recreation center will also be offering fun days on April 15 and 18, for ages 6 to 13, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Each day is $15 per child, per day with an updated recreation center membership. Participants should bring a lunch bag, snacks, and a bottle of water, and wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes.
