SEVEN HILLS, Ohio – The national labor shortage is reaching every community.

That’s why Seven Hills is hosting a job fair for area restaurants and businesses, as well as the Community Recreation Center, which is gearing up for its summer season.

The event is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. on March 23 in the Seven Hills Community Recreation Center gymnasium.

“Every time you go up and down Broadview Road, you see signs of hiring,” said Spencer Abbott, administrative specialist at Seven Hills Recreation Center, which organizes the job fair.

“As a community center, not just a recreation center, we wanted to do something that would help the community and see what they needed, which turned out to be reaching out to more applicants.

“We started by reaching out to the restaurants that are around the recreation center. They were all very positive, very grateful for the idea, and then it spread to other local businesses.

Job seekers are encouraged to come prepared to interview potential employers, as well as bring copies of their resumes.

“We also offer raffles to help people get into the gym,” Abbott said. “We also sent him to Tri-C and area high schools. We just try to connect as many candidates as possible with potential employers. »

In addition to restaurants such as A Cut Above the Rest, Boss ChicknBeer, and Dairy Queen, the Seven Hills Community Recreation Center hires summer camp counselors, field crew members, and lifeguards.

“Over the past few years we have undertaken additional work at our parks which increases the need for seasonal assistance,” said Seven Hills Director of Recreation Jen Burger. “Our pool and summer camp programs are more important than ever, so we need to find or train qualified people to help us continue to provide quality programs to our community.

“We have great deals on Lifeguard Training, as well as Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor courses. We have qualified trainers on staff which keeps our course prices lower than some others in the area.

For Boss ChicknBeer, which recently opened in Seven Hills, the job fair is an opportunity to add quality staff members to its growing operation.

“We’re participating because we’re a growing company that believes in promoting from within,” said Heather Doeberling, co-owner of Boss ChicknBeer. “All of our leaders started out as hourly team members and moved into salaried and even leadership positions.

“With growth and upward mobility, we are always on the lookout for more exciting personalities to enter the Boss pipeline.”

Abbott noted that there is space available for additional restaurants and businesses. For more information, email Abbott or call Abbott at 216-524-6262.
