LCG Announces Increased Hours and Programs at Park Recreation Center | Characteristics

LAFAYETTE, LA – The Department of Lafayette Park, Arts, Recreation and Culture (PARC) is increasing hours and adding community programs at all of the city’s recreation centers and senior centers. Newly hired Director of Recreation Centers Alena Fields implemented changes to better serve citizens after reviewing inefficiencies, staffing issues and program options. To meet the needs of the community, employee shifts and tasks were realigned, and the center’s hours of operation were standardized at all levels.

“Our goal is to provide consistency within our community. We want residents to have equal access to resources in their own neighborhoods, and we do this by creating consistency in hours of operation and through a variety of programs. Ultimately, it improves the quality of life for all citizens,” Fields said.

From Monday March 14, all leisure centers will be open Monday to Friday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Rose House and Art House senior centers will increase opening days from two or three days a week to five days a week. Rose House: Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Art House from Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“New programs and events are on the rise as COVID cases decline. We are thrilled and committed to providing the best possible service in our great city and are happy to welcome our community back,” Fields said.

PARC Director Hollis Conway added, “With Alena on board, we are able to provide more and better options for our community, and there is more to come. Stay tuned.”
