Grass fire burning near Fort Carson in Turkey Creek Recreation Area


FORT CARSON – A grass fire burns at a Fort Carson training ground near Hitch Rack Ranch Road at Mile 34, also in the Turkey Creek Recreation Area.

The fire started around 2:30 p.m. Thursday and has spread to approximately 210 acres and is 40 percent contained.

No structures or personnel are at risk, but smoke will continue to be visible along Highway 115.

Fort Carson Fire receives mutual aid from Stratmoor Hills and security.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
