The International Dark Sky Association is an organization designed to encourage the preservation and protection of dark sites by implementing lighting policies, environmentally friendly outdoor lighting, and public education.
“When used indiscriminately, artificial light can disrupt ecosystems, impact human health, waste money and energy, contribute to climate change, and block our vision and connection to nature. universe,” the organization said in a press release.
The organization cited TOP’s “outstanding dedication and commitment” to maintaining dark skies as the reason for designating the space in the program.
