The Avon Recreation Center seeks feedback on its facilities, operations and programming. An online survey will be available in English and Spanish until Friday, May 13 on the Avon Leisure Center website.

“The survey aims to better understand how we are doing and where we should be focusing our resources,” Recreation Director Michael Labagh said. “The survey data will allow recreation center staff to assess community needs and lay the foundation for possible facility improvements, operational adjustments and additional programming opportunities.”

Respondents will be asked questions regarding frequency and areas of use, cleaning and maintenance practices, as well as desire for operational adjustments, scheduling opportunities or upgrades and/or facility improvements.

“Recreation at Avon has evolved significantly since the recreation center opened in 1995. We hope to further optimize and/or expand our offerings based on the growing needs of the community,” Labagh said.

The recreation department consists of 10 full-time employees and five divisions: administration, guest services, fitness, water sports, and adult and youth programs.

The Avon Recreation Center is a 40,000 square foot facility featuring both aquatics and fitness areas. Facilities include a climbing wall, two multi-purpose studios, a 5-lane swimming pool, a diving pit, leisure pools with slide and water features, a hot tub, a steam room, a sauna, changing rooms up-to-date, a weight room, a cardio/circuit zone and a functional training space. Programs range from group fitness classes for adults, adult sports, personal training, birthday parties, after-school care, summer camp, swimming lessons, the recreational and competitive swim team and American Red Cross safety training courses.

Within a growing community comes the constant need to recruit and retain quality staff members. The Recreation Department is hiring for several positions, including lifeguards, swim instructors, swim team coaches and youth counselors. Potential staff can expect quality training, a competitive salary, a fun and professional work environment, and a free monthly membership at the Avon Recreation Center.
