Wash water filters

Clean drinking water in the house is one of the vital necessities, especially when children live in the family. The quality of drinking water without additional purification is much lower than bottled water, which is due to the excess concentration of chlorine and the characteristics of the area. The water filter does an excellent job of cleaning to a state that is safe for health.
International medicine associates most diseases with the quality of drinking water.
Not all regions are able to provide people with drinking water that meets generally accepted standards. The way out is to purchase a device that purifies water from components harmful to the body.
Types of water filters for washing
There are many models of water purification devices. Stores offer compact nozzles, jugs in which water is cleaned with a sorbent, but it is better to give preference to cleaning filters built directly under the sink.
It is not for nothing that some people do not use tap water when cooking because it gives a specific flavor to food and drinks cooked on it and can be harmful to health. Therefore, cleaning devices located under the sink are always in demand by buyers.
Flow filters under the sink
The main advantage of water purified by a flow filter is an irregular amount, you can not only drink, but also cook on it. The flow model device, without osmosis function, contains flasks with replaceable sorbing cleaning blocks (cartridges).
Flow models can have a different number of flasks, but the best option is the presence of 3-4 tanks. This is enough for a complete cleaning, and in terms of size, such a unit does not take up much space.
Devices with 4 flasks will cost more, but in them each element has its own case, parts are easy to change. The performance of the flow filter is up to 1.5 liters per minute.
Another difference from other modifications is the method of placement: under the kitchen sink. Thanks to special connections, the system is connected to the pipe. The supply tap is installed on the sink.
Similar models are also installed on the wall if there is not enough space under the sink. But at the same time, the faucet is mounted on the sink.
You can connect the flow filter as follows:
- Place the appliance under the sink, in a place convenient for you.
- Connect to a pipe with cold water (installation takes place using a special tee equipped with a faucet).
- Drill a hole in the surface of the sink for a drinking tap.
- Attach the body to the walls of the sink.
- Connect the filter elements with flexible hoses.
Components
The flow filter consists of several storage cones connected to each other in series.
The purification process takes place in stages, which is why the output is filtered water of excellent quality.
The flasks contain cartridges that purify water of any type: ordinary, hard, with an excess of metals. Due to this, a complete set is selected for each specific case. You need to remember that if the rigidity is excessively rigid, then the device will have to be serviced more often, and this is an uneconomical option.
Flow filter device
The differences lie in the features of the design and structure, the number of constituent elements:
- Dimensions and purpose of cleaning cartridges.
- Case design, case design.
- Number of flasks (modules).
What should you pay attention to when buying a flow filter?
Most models are made for standard cartridges, thanks to which the consumer can choose the manufacturer of the cartridges himself.
When choosing a flow model, you should not take models with non-standard sizes of replaceable elements, as the choice of cartridges is limited.
A durable housing is the key to a long service life of a flow filter, it depends on it whether it can withstand possible pressure drops, whether it will be convenient to repair it.
When buying a device with several flasks, it is better to give preference to models with a transparent first flask – this will allow you to see in time the level of contamination of the first cartridge, the condition of which determines subsequent cleaning elements and the quality of the filter.
A significant drawback of the filter with flasks is the insufficient strength of the connecting elements, which can lead to leaks over time. It is better to change cartridges every 6 months, the degree of water purification is up to 1 micron.
Advantages of the stationary version for washing: high cleaning quality, separate faucet, high performance, ease of use. However, such a system is one of the most expensive types of filter devices.
Sink filters with reverse osmosis
The osmosis system, among consumers, is considered one of the best. A reverse osmosis filter can make water much cleaner by removing heavy chlorine, bacteria, viruses and other organic matter.
The main part of the filter element is a special membrane, the microscopic pores of which are able to retain organic matter, which guarantees reliable health protection. Thanks to the reverse osmosis filter, it became possible to have your own water, similar to bottled water.
The main advantages of such a filtering system are the highest degree of purification, the constant availability of clean water.
The system kit includes: cartridges for pre-cleaning, a special membrane, a final filter.
It is similar to the flow, but it has additional nodes. Here the number of modules reaches five and each performs separate functions. A nice bonus is a filter that performs ultrafine cleaning.
Various cartridges are also used for this system: they get rid of mechanical and organic impurities, metals. If you use this type of system, you get the purest water. It is similar in composition to the one sold in stores in bottles, only cheaper.
Reverse osmosis units are supplemented with a mineralizer, which contributes to enrichment with useful minerals that have a beneficial effect on the functioning of the digestive and circulatory systems. The membrane should be replaced every 3 years. The system is capable of retaining contaminants as small as 0.0001 microns.
Requirements for filter systems
The composition of the elements of the device must include safe materials in contact with water. They should not have chemicals that emit their characteristic odors.
If the cartridge has an unpleasant “aroma”, then you should not buy this.
If you change the constituent elements in time, the water quality will remain at the level.
Filters built into the water supply are equipped with a housing made of reliable material: plastic or fiberglass.
The choice of filter is made depending on the lifestyle, marital status and terrain. If you live alone, a pitcher-type appliance or a water purifier is enough for you. For a large family, this option is not suitable. In this case, a stationary flow or osmosis model is indispensable.
How to choose a water filter for washing
You need to start from the quality of the water, as it can vary dramatically. Therefore, before choosing a filter and cartridges for it, an examination of water is carried out. To do this, you need a clean bottle, into which tap water is poured and sent to the sanitary and epidemiological station.
To obtain a prompt result, it is customary to contact the test center. It is not cheap, but the result is issued immediately, without waiting. Having the results of the analysis, we select a suitable device.
Water that has a normal level of hardness, but with a large number of chemical compounds, is best cleaned using a flow filter with cartridges: for mechanical cleaning, a sorption cartridge or an iron removal element is used.
If increased stiffness is detected in the analysis of samples, a flow system is undesirable.
Although it has special cartridges that reduce hardness, they have a short service life. As a result – frequent replacement, which can be called an expensive pleasure. Therefore, in this case, a reverse osmosis system is suitable.
If the water contains organic compounds, it is advisable to use a reverse osmosis model that will retain microorganisms and organic matter. For reliability, an ultraviolet purifier is installed at the outlet, which will disinfect the water.
Faults
- There is no supply to the filter. A common reason is the lack of water in the network during a general shutdown or the supply tap is closed. Check all the taps on the main or wait for the supply to the network.
- A weak flow indicates a decrease in pressure in the pipes, wear (clogging) of the cartridge, or a violation of the integrity of the membrane. In the first case, the pressure is increased by installing an additional pump, and in the second case, it is worth replacing worn or failed elements.
- Water does not come out of the faucet when the tank is full. Lack of pressure is attributed to a common cause of such a malfunction; to eliminate it, it is important to quickly pump air into the storage tank. If the membrane is deformed, when the spool is removed, it will leak, in which case the storage tank will have to be replaced. If the cleaning device is equipped with a mineralizer, its “clogging” is a common cause of obstruction.
- Frequent discharge into the sewer and a small amount of purified water at the outlet. The reason is worn valves or a clogged diaphragm.
- The first stage of mechanical cleaning is clogged more than once a month. This incoming liquid contains many coarse particles. To fix the problem, install a coarse cleaner, which will reduce the load on the main filter.
- Frequent failure of the reverse osmosis membrane (more than once in 2 months). The reasons for this phenomenon lie in 4 factors:
- Increased concentration of iron in the supply water. To eliminate, install pre-cleaning devices.
- Excessive concentration of organic matter. Try using additional cleaning devices, installing in front of the main one.
- Increased content of mineral particles. After verifying the excess concentration, install a pre-coarse cleaner.
- Non-use of the unit for a long time (from two months) leads to clogging of the membrane. If you do not plan to use the filter, the membrane should be carefully removed, placed in a container with a purified liquid (special solution) and put in the refrigerator. In this way, it is stored for 3 months.
For long-term operation of models of various designs, preventive measures are recommended (regular chemical tests for composition, washing of elements that need it, etc.), regular replacement of cartridges.
In the event of a breakdown, it is not recommended to fix it yourself, it is better to contact a person from the service department.
