Food processor with juicer

A food processor is a household appliance that is used to prepare and prepare culinary dishes. Its peculiarity is the combination of several useful functions at once: food processing (slicing, mashing) and preparing drinks (juice, cocktails). The types of such devices can be found here. The versatility of the application of this device resembles a multicooker.
Device
The purpose of a food processor is to facilitate the process of cooking, from preparing food to processing it.
The device consists of:
- corps;
- motor;
- bowls;
- set of nozzles (different types and models have their own set).
The scope of application in cooking is unlimited. With it, you can get mashed potatoes, chopped vegetables and fruits, cope with meat and fish products (see Food processor with a meat grinder – a universal helper!), Dairy products, and even cut cheese, sausages and ham.
With the help of such household appliances, it is possible to prepare a sauce, grind spices, get a cocktail (milk, vegetable or fruit). Some models suggest the ability to knead the dough and squeeze the juice. And for the accuracy of the dosage of ingredients, you can choose a kitchen scale – mechanical or electronic – with the function of measuring volume, with calorie counting, with a bowl, with a load of up to 5 kilograms, glass, wall.
The food processor is based on the basic principle of household electrical engineering: a high-powered motor drives a nozzle inside (or outside, depending on the function you choose) of the bowl. The higher the power, the more revolutions per minute the device performs, improving the efficiency of the device.
The variety of functionality is due to additional elements, each of which involves a separate method of application. One type is used for making mashed potatoes, and another for slicing potatoes.
Ease of use and ergonomics of the body reduce your participation in cooking to the basic switching of buttons on the electronic or mechanical control unit and the installation of the desired attachment.
The combine is designed to process hard foods such as meat, potatoes, carrots. Can cut and mix ingredients. It is also used for making juice by installing a special nozzle. You can immerse objects directly into the knife bowl, or pass them through the knife attachment from above.
Design features include:
- Ergonomics: device management is easy to understand for the user, perceived at an intuitive level.
- Productivity: food processors are equipped with motors with a high number of revolutions per minute and high power to reduce cooking time.
- Environmental friendliness: consume less energy than their predecessors and a group of kitchen appliances that could replace a single food processor. When assembling the device, food-grade plastic is used, which is safe for humans. In this parameter, it is similar to gas refrigerators, which are also an environmentally friendly type of kitchen appliances.
- Convenience: are designed on the principle of compactness, attention is paid to the suppression of motor noise.
- Versatility: a variety of working attachments and additional functions, such as a food chopper and a juicer.
Functions and characteristics of the food processor with juicer
Juice extraction is not the main function of the device, but becomes possible only when a special nozzle is installed. The harvester has two types of corresponding nozzles at once: universal and for citrus fruits. The latter is a convex surface with grooves around it, on which a fruit cut in half is pressed.
When choosing a combine with a juicer function, pay attention to the way it works. Cheap models have only one option: either universal or for citrus fruits.
Expensive multifunctional models have two types. If both juicers are combined at once in an inexpensive device – it means that the quality of materials or assembly is at an average level.
- For citrus fruits: a ribbed convex nozzle that rotates, the juice flows directly into the bowl of the processor along the grooves. An alternative name is a citrus press, since to obtain a concentrate, you need to cut the fruit in half and press it on the nozzle.
- Universal juicer: works on the principle of a centrifuge, grinding fruits or vegetables into a puree, separating the juice from it and filtering it into a bowl. This is a separate unit of the food processor, which is installed on the bowl and connected to the motor.
The basis for choosing a combine with a juicer is its technical characteristics. It is necessary to determine not only the functionality and price category, but also the engine power.
Minimum allowable indicators:
- For cutting vegetables, making puree and juice, models with a power of 500 watts are suitable. There is a similarity with a separate device – a kitchen chopper.
- If the bowl of the device has more than 5 liters, you need to choose models with an indicator of 800 watts or more.
- Professional combines with a juicer have a power of 1000-1500 watts.
Pay attention to switching the speed of the device. The more diverse they are, the more functional the device. At the minimum speed, you can cut, for juicing with the universal nozzle, you need a high speed, and for citrus fruits – medium.
Meat and fish, on the contrary, require minimal speed to maintain a stable consistency of minced meat. The range of speeds in professional equipment meets all basic operations for processing different types of products.
Kinds
When choosing a multifunctional device for the kitchen with a built-in juicer, you must rely on the type of work: centrifugal and citrus.
The centrifugal type is suitable for fruits and berries in which seeds are missing or removed. If you make juice from gooseberries or grapes, it will turn out to be cloudy and tart in taste, since the device does not filter the resulting sediment on its own.
The advantage of the centrifugal type is the absence of waste in production, everything is consumed: from the core of a berry or fruit to the peel.
The device for squeezing juice from citrus fruits has a simple principle of operation, therefore it is effectively used even in devices with a small number of revolutions per minute. Some use a third type of juice production – auger. It looks like a meat grinder: the products are ground, and then juice comes out of them under pressure.
The advantage of the model is in a thorough filter of fruits and berries, the ability to make juice that is clean, not cloudy and viscous in consistency. The disadvantage is the high consumption of products.
In comparison, the types of devices with power from 500 to 1500W and the ability to switch operating speeds win. Choose devices with a bowl volume from 1.5 to 5 liters.
The cylindrical separator (the cutting part of the nozzle) allows you to collect more than 95% of the juice, which is 25% more than the conical type. On the other hand, the cylindrical spin does not allow the cake to be thrown back and filtered automatically.
Without a speed controller, you won’t be able to get the consistency you want.
How to use a food processor with a juicer
The basis of using both devices is to follow the instructions. This rule applies to all types of kitchen appliances – geyser, drip and automatic coffee makers; microwave ovens (with grill, solo, freestanding) and so on.
When working with different types of products, it is necessary to use those nozzles that are designed for one particular treatment. Do not cut meat on potato equipment and vice versa.
The second rule: follow the set operating time, as exceeding the allowable value, you can burn the motor. When juicing, pay attention to the productivity per hour, the average is up to 50 liters, do not exceed this value.
When using the “pulse” mode, keep an eye on the minimum button press time, which averages 3-5 seconds. If you violate this rule, then there will be problems with the starter, the adapter will burn out and the engine will not start without repair.
The instructions indicate places where you can not install the device. These include the work surface around the sink (or very close to the built-in dishwasher), places near open flames (for example, near the gas stove). You should also avoid installing the device on top of any types of stoves (induction, electric, glass-ceramic). Constant contact with heat sources (direct sunlight, exposure to appliances – such as a built-in oven or heating radiator) and water is contraindicated.
If there is not enough space in the kitchen, it is better to install the device on the dining table while cooking, separately from other appliances.
Security
Before turning on the device, it is necessary to check the integrity of the power cable: if breaks, breaks and cracks in the protective top coating (rubber) are detected, do not turn on the device in the kitchen, where there is a risk of direct contact of the wire with water.
When working with attachments for slicing and squeezing vegetables and fruits (see Food processor with slicing discs – graters are no longer needed!), do not touch or push food with your fingers (or improvised objects, such as a kitchen knife), use protective objects for this, that come with the kit. Strictly follow the instructions for use and work with the types of products.
It is strictly forbidden to wash the device in an unassembled and switched on form: contact with water may cause a short circuit. If liquid gets into the inner case of the device, then a breakdown will occur at the next start.
It is necessary in every possible way to prevent the ingress of foreign objects into the bowl, which can lead to mechanical damage to the cutters, housing and motor.
Faults
A typical malfunction of household kitchen equipment for processing vegetables, meat and fruits is a breakdown of the starter, which is responsible for starting the motor, being a fuse. With frequent use of the equipment not according to the rules of the instructions or voltage drops, it burns out. Repair services provide for the replacement of this part.
The second most popular is the breakage of nozzles and plastic / glass parts of the body. Three reasons for the failure: build quality, mechanical damage due to impacts, drying out in the sun (in the case of plastic). Manufacturers provide for the replacement of damaged parts by a separate purchase.
The third is that pieces of food clog the mechanism and knives, or they become dull over time. To prevent breakage, follow the instructions in the instructions, and if the quality of processing has decreased, contact the service center for the restoration of the cutting parts of the equipment.
The only malfunction that is recognized as unprofitable for repair is a motor breakdown. If it burned out and cannot be restored, then its replacement will cost half the price of a new device. Also for this reason, it is worth using a voltage stabilizer.
