How to build a gaming PC for VR

[ad_1]

Virtual reality is increasingly rapidly entering our lives. For several years now, VR gaming clubs have been opening, and players and fans of virtual reality are striving to get decent helmets and upgrade their PC to the right system requirements. We decided to take the simplest route and help you build a real gaming PC, ready for the coolest headsets like the HTC Vive Pro, which delivers high resolution images and great sound quality.

So, the minimum requirements are about the same for both the HTC Vive and the announced HTC Vive Pro. But the latest model, due to the higher (2880×1600) resolution, will require a little more graphics power.

You can collect the most powerful and cool stuffing, but we will still try to keep within the average price category.

Processor Intel Core i5-8400

The minimum requirement to be compatible with the Vive Pro is the Intel Core i5-4590, which is not the most popular Haswell microarchitecture processor and is not easy to find. In addition, when there is an analogue of Coffee Lake, it is still better to choose it. Yes, the base frequency of the Intel Core i5-8400 is slightly lower, but in turbo mode it is 4.0 GHz, and it also has two additional cores, so in terms of performance, it is probably worth giving preference to the Intel Core i5-8400.

It should also be noted that it provides a reserve for the future, so you will not need to change this processor for a long time.

CPU Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

We paid attention to this cooler for a reason, it is one of the best and has already proved its quality over the years of service. In this case, you can confidently rely on experience. Of course, fans of more modern coolers may initially be repelled by the fact that it is not liquid (and it looks extremely simple), but we will note its price and efficiency. The latter will become especially noticeable when trying to overclock the processor, and this will definitely come in handy for us.

Video card Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti

Of course, for a gaming computer that is designed for virtual reality, the graphics component is fundamentally important. Therefore, it is absolutely not worth saving here, on the contrary, it is best to make a choice in favor of reliability and quality. The minimum requirement for the HTC Vive Pro is an Nvidia GTX 1060, but in practice, its performance is ideal for Full HD. We are interested in 4K, which is why we turn to a slightly more expensive option – the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti. This graphics card will allow you to play 4K games at the highest quality and of course the VR experience will be second to none.

Motherboard Z370 Aorus Gaming 7

Another element that you should not save on is the motherboard. In this case, we are looking for a gaming board with a wide range of features, a large number of inputs and slots, and of course one that supports our chosen processor. Perhaps the best motherboard you can find today is the Z370 Aorus Gaming 7. Firstly, it meets the requirements in all respects, and secondly, gamers and fans of the cool gaming set-up design will love the RGB Fusion lighting. Well, back to the specifications, if you combine the Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 with a K-series processor, then the performance will impress any gamer.

RAM Kingston CL15 DIMM HyperX FURY

Choosing a RAM is not so easy, but the key parameters are speed and reliability. Although, you can pay attention to the stylish design of memory cards. As for Kingston, they have made a name for themselves, so we can confidently rely on their RAM. Simple, no frills, but everything works quickly and efficiently with a base frequency of 2400 MHz. The only negative for fans of backlighting is that these scarves do not have it, but this affects the price. And of course, do not forget that the RAM must be at least 8GB. At best, 16GB or more.

Corsair RM550x power supply

And a difficult and simple task at the same time is to choose a quality power supply that will not fail and will meet all the requirements of our VR computer. Saving here is also not worth it corny because we do not need unnecessary problems. Corsair RM550x is reliable and hardy. Its power is 550W, and the fan has a diameter of 135mm.

Hard drive and SSD Intel 760p SSD Series and SEAGATE Barracuda

Here, perhaps, it is necessary to speculate a little longer. First of all, ask yourself how much loading time bothers you. If you’re a seasoned gamer or just appreciate progress, load times are definitely important to you. So, in order to reduce it, we will give preference to an SSD drive – Intel 760p SSD Series. A slightly more expensive choice, but well worth the cost.

In addition, of course, it is best to purchase a hard drive with a capacity of at least 1TB. The best option is the 2TB SEAGATE Barracuda. This hard drive is ideal for storing files and saves, and is fast and quiet. In addition, it heats up slightly, so it does not require additional cooling. You can choose it as the primary hard drive as well, bypassing the SSD, but again, keep in mind the boot time: the HDD is always a bit longer.

Case Cooler Master H500P Mesh

For all this filling, of course, you need a stylish and spectacular case. In general, only two functions are most important in the case – aesthetic and additional cooling. In this case, we can say both: Cooler Master H500P Mesh looks great, has RGB lighting and, most importantly, provides cooling for the stuffing. Plus, it is fully compatible with all of the above devices.

So, we have assembled the perfect computer that will not only become a powerful gaming machine, but also easily cope with even the most advanced device for virtual reality. Namely, this, apparently, promises to be HTC Vive Pro. Well, we wish you a pleasant game and complete immersion in virtual worlds!
