Samsung may return to the Russian market as early as October, Izvestia reports. According to the source, the South Korean manufacturer is likely to resume deliveries of equipment to domestic retailers and restart the official online store.

The company’s plans for a return are hinted at by the updated official Samsung website, where pages of the recently released Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 foldable smartphones have appeared.

Representatives of the “gray” market report that sellers are not interested in importing equipment from South Korea due to the possible resumption of official sales. According to experts, Samsung has never talked about the final withdrawal from Russia, so the restoration of supplies is more than possible.

MTS analysts note that the share of Samsung smartphones in August 2022 was 9% against 30% last year, and the share of revenue from the company’s devices decreased from 28% to 12%.

During the absence of Samsung in the Russian market, the Chinese companies Xiaomi, Tecno and Infinix have occupied the niche of the South Korean manufacturer. While Samsung has a wide range of affordable Galaxy A devices, the company’s truly competitive devices are in the sub-$20,000 segment of smartphones. At the same time, the bulk of sales in Russia falls on devices cheaper than this mark.

According to experts, in order to regain its position in Russia, Samsung will now have to dump. On the other hand, in the premium segment, the company has much more room to maneuver, given that Apple, Samsung’s main competitor, has introduced a number of restrictions for users from Russia.
