The Picodi.com team has compiled the fifth annual ranking of the “iPhone index”: analysts calculate how many days you need to work to buy Apple’s flagship smartphone in the 128 GB version. Such calculations have a convention: people will have to save their earnings on the gadget completely.
The calculations took into account the official price of the iPhone 14 Pro for 128 GB in the country and the average salary of residents according to local departments. For example, in Russia, Apple’s flagship costs 104,990 rubles, and the average Russian receives 55,492 rubles after taxes. The monthly salary was divided by 21 (the average number of working days in a month), the weekly rates were divided by 5.
It turned out that residents of Switzerland will earn the fastest money on a new device – in just 4.6 days. They are followed by the USA (5.7 days), Australia (6.1), UAE (6.5) and Luxembourg (7.5). The longest hours for the same model will have to work in Turkey (146.7 days), the Philippines (90.9), Brazil (74.2) and India (64.9).
In Russia, you will also have to save up for a new smartphone for more than a month – 39.7 days. We are in seventh place from the end of the ranking.
Compared to last year, the number of days decreased by 2.4. This is how the iPhone index in Russia looks like for the last 5 years:
- 2018 – 48.2 days;
- 2019 – 47 days;
- 2020 – 47.5 days;
- 2021 – 42.1 days;
- 2022 – 39.7 days.
At the same time, a Japanese enthusiast calculated in which countries it is most profitable to buy an iPhone 14. Russia is not on the list, since prices from regional Apple Stores were taken into account, but these calculations show that in other countries the novelty is much cheaper than Russian retail.
