Poco held a presentation of a pair of smartphones for the European market. Both are in the mid-range segment, with Helio G processors, large batteries, and MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. This is where the similarities end.

Poco M5

The smartphone received a 6.58-inch LCD display with Full HD + resolution, a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. Gorilla Glass protects it from above, in the center there is a recess for the front camera with a modest 5 megapixels. The main camera has a resolution of 50 megapixels, there are also additional modules – a macro and a depth sensor, 2 megapixels each.

The main feature of the device was the new Helio G99 processor – it is the first in the series to be made using the 6-nm process technology. True, it is supplemented by a maximum of 6 GB of LPDDR4X memory. The drive is also quite slow: UFS 2.2. The maximum storage capacity is 128 GB, but you can add more space with microSD cards.

A smartphone weighing 201 grams fit a 5,000 mAh battery. It supports 18W fast charging.

Its back panel is plastic, with a leather-like texture. Three colors are available: yellow, green and black. Prices are already known:

• 4 / 64 GB – 189 euros (≈11,400 rubles);
• 4 / 128 GB – 209 euros (≈12,600 rubles);
• 6 / 128 GB – 229 euros (≈13,800 rubles).

The smartphone goes on sale tomorrow, September 6th. On the first day, buyers expect special offers and a reduced price: on AliExpress, it will be sold at a price of 10,210 rubles. Store coupons will also help save money, and the first buyers will also receive gifts, including wireless headphones.

Poco M5s

As already mentioned, this is a renamed Redmi Note 10S, so of the two new products, this smartphone is the least interesting. The Poco variant of the differences only has a more recent default firmware, but everything else is the same – including colors.

So, the smartphone retained a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a frequency of 60 Hz, a Helio G95 processor and up to 8/128 GB of memory. The 64MP main camera is complemented by an 8MP wide-angle camera, plus a 2MP macro and depth sensor. The selfie camera has a resolution of 13 MP.

The 5,000 mAh battery supports 33 W fast wired charging, there is no wireless. The smartphone has an NFC module for contactless payment, a fingerprint scanner is built into the power button. The case has passed IP53 dust and moisture protection certification.

Poco M5s will go on sale in white, blue and gray shades, prices in Europe are as follows:

• 4 / 64 GB – 209 euros (≈12,600 rubles);
• 4 / 128 GB – 229 euros (≈13,800 rubles);
• 6 / 128 GB – 249 euros (≈15,000 rubles).

This novelty also goes on sale on September 6, on AliExpress it can be ordered at a price of 11,581 rubles.
