Both series are mirrorless, which means they are more compact than models equipped with a bulky mirror, and, besides, you can use lenses with a simpler design.
The image sensor is converted to a new format – G – and this format is larger than the standard 35 mm by as much as 70%! This is surprising given the fact that the 35mm format dwarfs the APS-C sensors that are widely used in both SLR and mirrorless cameras. By the way, the only direct competitor of this device is the Hasselblad X1D, and even without a lens it costs no more than $9,000.
As you may have guessed, the Fujifilm GFX 50S is the first mirrorless camera on the GFX system. The latter has a resolution of 51.4 megapixels (8256×6192). And it immediately becomes clear that such a resolution requires new optics, which Fujifilm is already preparing. It is known that it will be six G-mount lenses.
At the same time, the weight of the camera itself, even without a lens, immediately commands respect: as much as 800 m GFX 50S It is equipped with a removable viewfinder, and its screen can change the angle of its inclination. According to the manufacturers, the equipment (as an option) also includes an additional (movable) viewfinder. It is intended for video shooting.
There is no comprehensive information about the prices yet, but the company promises that the GFX 50S + standard lens + viewfinder kit can be bought for thousands for ten dollars. All of them will be available for purchase in the first months of 2017. In the meantime, the developers plan to increase the resolution in Fujifilm GFX cameras to a stunning hundred megapixels.
