The fourth generation of the popular over-ear headphone series eschews retro style in favor of a more modern and lightweight design. Sennheiser claims that the new model is more comfortable to wear and offers better noise cancellation compared to the third version. This is confirmed by the review of The Verge: although externally the headphones look cheaper and simpler, they have become more comfortable to wear.

Another important feature of the novelty was autonomy up to 60 hours: competitors like Sony WH-1000XM5, Bose QuietComfort 45 and Apple AirPods Max work 20-30 hours without recharging.

The sound quality is not expected to change: here is the same pair of 42 mm speakers. But they are set up a little differently: “out of the box” they are slightly less bassy, but this can be corrected through the equalizer. Also, the drivers are tilted towards the ears, which improves the stage. The new noise reduction was also appreciated in the reviews: it lets in less sounds if you sit in a noisy room like a cafe. It falls short of Sony or Bose, but the result is decent. The transparency mode is also present.

Headphones support AAC, SBC, aptX and aptX Adaptive codecs. You can connect to a sound source via a wire both via the audio jack and via USB-C.

There are also a number of disadvantages. So, the folding design was replaced with a fixed one, in which only the bowls can be rotated. Compatible case included. As for the cups, now the ear cushions are removable, but they are made of artificial leather, and not natural, as before. Physical control buttons have been replaced with touch ones: to change the volume in the cold, you will need gloves that are compatible with touchscreens.

The novelty will go on sale on August 23 at a price of $ 350 – or about 21,100 rubles at the current rate.
